About Us

In 1945 Calcutta Rotary Club sponsored Cuttack Rotary club and thus Rotary entered in Odisha.In 1948 Cuttack Rotary club Sponsored Balasore Rotary Club.Mr.Prasanta Kumar Chand a leading Rotarian , advocate and also a reputed personality of Balasore give a proposal to Bhadrak leading personality Advocate Rakhal Chandra Das to form a Rotary club at Bhadrak.Towards last part of 1971 in one fine winter afternoon, he along with a group of Rotarians of Balasore reached Bhadrak and met Sri Rakhal Babu with the proposal of opening a Rotary Club at Bhadrak.

Rakhal Babu had good rapport with Prasant Kumar Chand as he often visited Balasore Court.To form a Rotary Club Rakhal Babu take three monts to take consent from 15 reputed person from Bhadrak.

   Some of the leading personlity were Late Trilochan Mishra the Principal of Bhadrak College, Late Parbati Charan Mahapatra who was the manager of State Bank of India, Bhadrak Branch, Captain Dr.Radhamadhab Das from Banka sahi , Bhadrak, A medicine shop owner named  Raimohan Mahanty,Debananda Mahapatra a leadimg advocate, Mr.Bhabagrahi Panigrahi the only charter member is still living with us is the owner of Sabitri Rice Mill.Mr.Prakash Chandra Das the owner of Draupadi Talkies, Ayodhya Prasad Nayak the then HOD of Dept.of Commerce , Bhadrak College, late Deb Kumar Bose , Gandhipadia, Nayabazar and late Rameswar Prasad , a reputed businessman of Chandan Bazar.

At last came that day 9th April 1972.The biginning of a great movement in Bhadrak.In the evening a public meeting was arranged on the occasion in the garden of Mahendra Bhawan,the residence of Rakhal Babu, where it was declared with great enthusiasm before the elites of the town the formation and opening of Rotary Club of Bhadrak.PDG Harihar Mohapatra ,retired justice of Patna High Court, was the chief guest of the ceremony.Rakhal Babu was unanimously elected as the first President of the Club and Parbati Charan Mohapatra the first Secretary. It receieved its Charter certification from Rotary international on 20th August 1972.On that day Mangi Lal Baldewa was inducted (Sponsored by Prakash Chandra Das) as a active member. Since the formation its contribution to Bhadrak is significant in many fields.From its formation Rotary Club Bhadrak is a leading Club with a special position for its outstanding activities under the leadership of dynamic dedicated vibrant members of the club.
